Acupuncture for Plantar Fascitis

Plantar Pain

Clinical manifestations :
Planter pain is associated with compression of the phalangeal nerve. Walking and standing generally cause pain in the distal end of one or more metatarsal bones. The dorsum of the foot may remain swollen.There is obvious tenderness on examination.

Needling :
The patient adopts sitting or lying down position . The acupoints are needled , with the needles being retained for 40 minutes ; during the period , one session of needle manipulation is carried out. Acupuncture should be performed once a day , for six to ten days depending on pain response.

Points:
Ah-shi points , Bafeng (Ex- LE-10) on the affected side.
Caution:
Patient should avoid spraining of foot , injuring the sole or walking for a long time.To avoid relapse , patients should wear low-heeled shoes and correct their posture when placing their foot on the ground.
